Jamology – Research on jamming phenomena by mathematics and physics –

Overview

During holidays, drivers frequently face severe traffic jams on highways. In daily life, commuting and school trains are often delayed due to heavy congestion. Such jam and congestion are not only observed in traffic and pedestrian flows. They are seen wherever there is flow, such as logistics, economics, and proteins in our body. Nishinari lab is conducting research on jamming and congestion phenomena by combining various methods such as observations, experiments, computer simulations, and theoretical analysis of mathematical models.
